CEILING LIGHT GUIDELINES
A good rule for you to figure out the best size ceiling fixture. Measure the length and width of the room and then add those two numbers together.
Then take that number and convert it into total inches, that will be the desired width of the fixture.
EXAMPLE: If the room measures 12 feet by 12 feet, the ceiling fixture you should place there then should be 24 inches wide.
HOWEVER: If you place a Chandelier or Pendant Light or over a table, then measure the width of the table, and subtract 12 inches from that overall width – of the table. That will be the number to use in order to determine the width for a proper size chandelier or pendant to look best for that room.
TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION:
I’s not an exact science. Different factors should be considered, the design or material used can affect the look of how large or small a lighting fixture will appear.
So, good judgment and personal taste may be your best friend in deciding the proper size lighting fixture for your room.
