CEILING LIGHT GUIDELINES
A good rule for you to follow to figure out the best size ceiling fixture. Measure length and width of the room and then add those two numbers together.
Then take that number and convert it into total inches, that will be the desired width of the fixture.
EXAMPLE: If your room measures 12 feet by 12 feet, the ceiling fixture you should place there then should be 24 inches wide.
HOWEVER: If you install a Chandelier or Pendant Light over a table, then measure the width of the table, and then subtract 12 inches from that overall width – of the table. That will be the number to use in order to determine the width for a proper size chandelier or pendant to look best for that room.
TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION:
I’s not an exact science. Different factors could be considered, the design or material that is used can affect the look of how large or small a lighting fixture will appear.
So, good judgment and personal taste may just be your best friend in deciding the proper size lighting fixture for your room.
