CEILING LIGHT GUIDELINES
A great rule you should follow to figure out the best ceiling fixture size. Measure the length and width of your room and then add the two numbers together.
Take that number and convert it to total inches, that will be the proper size width of the fixture.
EXAMPLE: If your room measures 12 feet by 12 feet, then the ceiling fixture you should place there then should be 24 inches wide.
HOWEVER: If you place a Chandelier or Pendant Light over a dining table, then measure the width of the table, and then subtract 12 inches from the overall width – of the table. That will be the number to use in order to determine the width for a proper size chandelier or pendant to look best for that room.
TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION:
I’s not an exact science. Various factors can be considered, the design or material that is used may affect the look of how large or small a lighting fixture will appear.
So, good judgment and personal taste may just be your best friend in deciding the proper size lighting fixture for your room.
