Frederick Cooper Lamps – Height

Determine the Best Height for Frederick Cooper table lamps:

Generally, the proper height for table lamps is somewhere between 58″ and 64″ from the floors surface. Keep the floor lamps and table lamps in this approximate range tin order to provide an overall cohesive look to the room.

  • Nightstands 24 to 30 inches high will require a table lamp 27 to 32 inches tall. Shorter or smaller nightstands 18 to 20 inches high will require a taller lamp.
  • The lamp shade should not be much larger in diameter than your tabletop dimensions.
  • Taller lamps should be utilized on tables in dining rooms, halls, foyers, and other areas where they won’t be used for reading or task lighting.

A lamp can be great in every way but if it is too big for your room or table – it simply isn’t the correct lamp. As a rule of thumb, if you see the neck of the lamps light bulb or its bulb socket from either a seated or standing position – the lamp is likely too tall.

Could it mean you cannot use that beautiful large lamp you are fallen in love with? No not necessarily – in most cases, you may need a larger shade that can cover the bulb or maybe just a lower table. Remember the lamp and table should generally be between 58″ and 64″ from the floor

Before You Purchase: 1) Check and make sure the bottom width & depth of the lampshade is narrower than the table it sits on. This is typical for a narrow surface such as a buffet table, a dresser, or bedside table. 2) Check the lamp height and make sure it’s not too short or tall.
